Chevrolet is most notably recognized on the national level as the “Official Vehicle of Major League Baseball.” Chevrolet has expanded the support of Major League Baseball down to youth baseball players in communities across the country through a grassroots, community outreach program called Chevy Youth Baseball. The program is geared toward bringing together America’s favorite brand, Chevrolet, with America’s favorite pastime!
CYB is the largest grassroots program in Chevy's history and continues to grow and become a huge success with the enthusiasm, hard work, and continued community involvement of the participating Chevy dealers and their sponsored youth leagues. During the 2009 youth baseball season, more than 400 Chevrolet dealers from the Southeast helped generate more than $2 million in donations to youth baseball programs. Because of its widespread success in the Southeast, the program has now grown across the country. Since 2007, Chevrolet dealers have helped raise over $5.7million for leagues in their local communities.
Participating youth baseball leagues receive equipment and monetary donations, unique major and minor league baseball experiences including tickets to games and invitations to exclusive instructional clinics, as well as the opportunity to raise up to $10,000 through a unique fundraising opportunity.
Equipment and Monetary Donation
Participating dealerships will donate Equipment Kits to their league that will include Equipment Bags, Baseball Buckets, Dry-Erase Coach’s Clipboards and CYB T-shirts. Youth leagues will also receive a one-time Monetary Donation Check from their sponsoring dealership.
“Chevy Days” – Partnerships with Major and Minor League Baseball Teams
Dealerships and Leagues associatedwith a Major or Minor League Baseball Team will have the opportunity to participate in Chevy Days at the team park. MLB/MiLB teams will host one or more Chevy Day, and leagues and their sponsoring dealership will receive game tickets and the opportunity to participate in unique ballpark activities.
Chevy Youth Baseball Instructional Clinics
Participating dealership groups (LMAs) will provide one or more 1/2-day instructional clinic in their area. These clinics give participants from sponsored Chevy Youth Baseball leagues the exclusive opportunity to receive FREE fundamental training from experienced instructors. Clinic instruction will be provided by current or former MLB/MiLB players and coaches or the Ripken Baseball professional staff. Information on signing up for the clinics is sent to participating dealerships and leagues, and the schedule will be posted online. Clinic spots will fill on a first-come, first-served basis.
Chevy Vehicle-Giveaway Fundraising Opportunity
The Chevy Youth Baseball Fundraiser is an opportunity for leagues to raise additional funds for their private use. Sponsored leagues will receive 2,000 fundraiser entry tickets to distribute for a suggested donation of $5 per ticket, and the league will keep 100% of proceeds raised.
At the end of the fundraiser, there will be one (1) winner of a Chevy Equinox or a Chevy Malibu of the winners’ choice up to $30,000 (see the official rules for details). In each participating market there will be a secondary prize of a Home Entertainment Center valued at $1,000. Drawings for the vehicle and entertainment centers are held in mid July; winners announced prior to August 1, 2010.
We are excited about the popularity and success of this program. Here's to "baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet," and a successful 2010 Chevy Youth Baseball season!
